A free, block-based coding platform that helps students learn programming and control robots in an interactive way.

BUILD-A-BOT

Can you build a robot as fast as you can think?
Grab your imagination and engineering skills (important STEM skills!) to design your very own robot in this:

BUILD-A-BOT CHALLENGE

Robots are amazing machines that help with all sorts of tasks—from cleaning your room to exploring space! Can you design and build a robot that’s ready for action?

What You Need:

  • Colored paper (for robot parts)

  • Scissors (for cutting your robot’s body)

  • Glue or tape (to hold everything together)

  • Markers or crayons (to decorate your robot)

  • Googly eyes, buttons, or any fun objects (for robot features)

  • Pipe cleaners, straws, or cardboard (for robot arms or legs)

How to Play:

  • Set the stage! Grab your materials and get ready to create your robot! What will it look like? Will it have wheels, arms, or even rocket boosters?

  • Build your robot body! Use the paper to create a body for your robot. Make it big, small, or even robotic! Tape or glue the parts together.

  • Tip: You can use straws or pipe cleaners to add robot arms or legs. Will your robot walk, roll, or float?

  • Give your robot a face! Add eyes, a mouth, and buttons to make your robot come to life! Can it see, talk, or even beep?

  • Make your robot MOVE! Add wheels, a propeller, or use your creativity to make your robot roll, spin, or stand up.

  • Can your robot dance? Try it out!

  • Robot Test Time! Is your robot ready for action? Try making it spin, jump, or wave its arms. Go, robot, go!

Playing with Multiple Kids? Try These Twists!

  • Race Mode: Who can build the fastest robot? Let’s see whose robot wins the race!

  • Team-Up Challenge: Work together to create a super robot with awesome features like flying wings or spinning arms!

  • Robot Showdown: Let each robot compete in a fun obstacle course. Can your robot win by making it through without falling down?

Bonus Round:

Can your robot move and collect items? Add a bucket or tray to your robot and challenge it to pick up small objects like pencils, blocks, or toys! Will your robot be able to hold all the items?

Why This Action Challenge?

This game is a high-energy challenge that teaches kids about robotics while they have fun building their own robots! This fun game brings STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) to life by showing how real robots are designed to help humans do all kinds of cool things like building, exploring, and even cleaning!

How Does This Relate to STEM?

Robots are built with parts that work together to perform different tasks. In this game, kids are acting as robot engineers, designing their own machines to move, communicate, and work. This hands-on activity will help kids think like engineers and understand how robots are created to solve problems!

By playing this game, kids will:

  • Explore Engineering: Build their own robot from scratch, learning how to design and assemble robot parts.

  • Sharpen Problem-Solving Skills: They’ll figure out how to make the robot move, walk, or perform actions.

  • Practice STEM Thinking: Kids will apply engineering concepts and creativity in a fun, interactive way.
